Lots going on in this 12th book of this series which I am still thoroughly enjoying. Raggs, our favorite kleptomaniac cat, has managed to abscond with a necklace that dropped out of a letter he found which will solve a very old mystery and make a lot of people VERY happy!! But----who is letting the cats out of Savannah's Aunt's cat shelter. There are a couple of suspects and Savannah, her Aunt and two of their friends are bound and determined to solve the mystery--much to the distress of all their husbands and the chief of police. Savannah and Mike's baby is now 1 year old and a big party is planned in the midst of all of this. New characters of the animal and human variety are introduced in this book and I can't wait until the next book in this series is written so I can read it!
About the Book: (from Amazon)
When the Iveys and the Sheridans find a deathbed confession letter, Savannah and her Aunt Margaret spring into action. Is Savannah’s imagination playing tricks on her or has she stumbled upon the unaware kidnap victim mentioned in the letter? In the meantime, there’s trouble at the Sheridans’ cat shelter and Rags, the kleptomaniac cat, leaps right into the middle of the tangled mess. Only the cat knows who is putting his feline friends in danger. Meet some interesting new characters in this story and be prepared to laugh and to cry. The feel-good ending is worth the admission price of this book.

Tales From A Southern Mom
This is definitely a fantasy novel and although it is not the genre I normally read I enjoyed it thoroughly. Since this is the first of I think it is 5 (possibly more) books in this series it does leave you hanging and wanting to know what happened next. I am not going to write too much --the information below is more then enough to whet your appetite for-especially if you or your teen love reading fantasy novels with a bit of the old good vs evil thrown in-and an romance that eludes the ages.
About the book: (from Amazon)
From the Author
Okay, I'm going to give you a bit of a head's up. My debut novel, ILLUMINATING CRYSTAL, Book I in the WHITE BIRD SERIES, is not your average fantasy novel. And, along with that, my heroine, CRYSTAL BLUE, is not your typical teenager. Think of my book like this: PHILLIP PULLMAN MEETS DAN BROWN IN NARNIA.
Don't get me wrong. ILLUMINATING CRYSTAL has got all the ingredients of a fun fantasy novel: magic, adventure, and pulse-pounding action, and CRYSTAL thinks, acts, and has the same sort of problems as other girls her age. It's just that she and her story are different. How? Because CRYSTAL is an Avatar, or rather, a person who can walk between worlds, and a rather reluctant one I might add, and unlike fictional fantasy stories, ILLUMINATING CRYSTAL might make you question what is real about our world and what isn't as a lot of my story is based on factual information.
Shocking, I know, but if you're anything like me you're a seeker, a curious cat, someone who asks lots and lots of questions, dissatisfied with traditional answers or people who tell you the only things that are real are the things you can 'see' 'touch' 'smell' 'hear.'
You see, in reality, the world is in the dawn of the FIFTH AGE. The indigenous of our world understand this more than modern man does. They have their creation stories of when humanity was at this point before. Moving from the Third Age into the Fourth. Sadly, most of mankind did not survive, but their stories did. But this time it will be different. Why? Because in 1987 an event occurred that set humanity and earth on a new course, a course for illumination.
This is where CRYSTAL comes in. Being a Child of the Stars, she's born for a specific purpose: she must travel the world, meet with the indigenous and discover their secrets. Why? Because, like I explained before, humanity is entering the FIFTH AGE. And, believe it or not, it's going to get pretty 'wild' for awhile during this transition. Crystal's mission, if she succeeds, will help humanity transition from one age into the next.
But, as I said before, CRYSTAL is a bit reluctant. She'd rather not go. Having been miserable for most of her life, this is how she's sort of a regular teenager, she's just found a bit of happiness at her new job and really doesn't want to go gallivanting around the world. Unfortunately, she has no choice.
The indigenous I spoke of earlier who have their creation stories understand the spiritual world and live in a way that keeps them close to their creator. They are the keepers of ancient secrets that I believe many have tried to keep hidden. Why? Because, believe it or not, many powerful people don't want the general population to realize how special they are. You see, there are ancient codes and practices that the indigenous still abide by and they are willing to share these secrets, yet powerful forces do not want them shared. For over thirty years I've been investigating this curious, yet disturbing occurrence and now, as we move into another age, I think it's time for some of these 'secrets', secrets of the 'divine' human to be shared.
ILLUMINATING CRYSTAL will take you on an adventure and you'll meet the characters who you will form an attachment with and will ultimately travel the world together, laugh together and cry together in a series of books of which there will be at least seven.

From the Back Cover
Eighteen-year-old Crystal Blue was born to illuminate humanity. When she finds an ancient manuscript in the basement of a bookstore, an intense transformation activates the eleventh layer of her DNA in preparation for the mission she was born to fulfill: she must travel the world and unveil the secret and sacred knowledge held by indigenous groups, knowledge that will illuminate humanity, secrets that dark forces have killed to keep hidden. The transformation harnesses her with unique powers, but also makes her vulnerable to these dark forces that now seek to destroy her.
But there's a problem; Crystal doesn't want to go.
She's just moved to Minnesota to re-kindle her relationship with her older sister, Claire. And she's finally found a job that she adores in "The Blue Crystal", a bookstore where she meets elderly, Cosmo Attis, the owner who suspects she might be his long-lost niece. And, Crystal has fallen hard for his broodingly handsome partner, Adam Walker. After years of being lonely and miserable, she's finally found a bit of happiness. But after she discovers the manuscript, unfortunate and mysterious occurrences abound: bold, blue streaks magically appear in her dark, dreadlocked hair, strange faces appear in the mirror, Adam begins to ignore her, and a botched kidnapping leaves her bleeding to death in a 7-11. Crystal learns of her fated mission from the man who rescues her: Dr. David Lange, the charismatic physics professor who now decodes the ancient manuscript and who, she discovers, shares her dreams.
Soon, fantasy becomes reality when Crystal is attacked by a gigantic gold serpent in David's home. Fortunately Crystal is saved by an unsuspecting yet familiar assortment of characters who have watched over her since birth. Their leader shares a story that that is so unbelievable that Crystal begins to fear for her life...and so she should. As it becomes clear that no one around her is who they appear to be, Crystal is in mortal danger as another attack finds her at death's doorstep, one where her memories are stolen, making her mission even more tenuous. But there is one who now protects her memories and he will prove to be her greatest soldier and champion.
The world is changing as it enters into the Fifth Age and darkness may come. But as the world sets out to experience the greatest compassionate shift in human history, only an enlightened and illuminated humanity will survive the coming changes. Crystal, a child of the stars whose ancestor walked in the stars, must be persuaded to shoulder her fate, accept her mission and harness her unique gifts: powers held only by Avatars and Masters. And, she must do this before the darkness finds and destroys her.
Will she go? Will she accept her fate? Will she leave the one she loves behind?

About the Author: (from Amazon)
PB Morlen lives her life looking for the next fascinating moment, whether in a book, behind a tree in the woods, around a city corner, or at home. Having spent the last thirty years of her life traveling through life's 'mystery schools,' seeking the secrets of the divine human has taught her to trust her own voice, listen to her heart and pursue her dreams: simple secrets to a magical life. A lover of metaphysics, sword play, dragons and magical worlds, her novels, from present day to ancient times, offer the reader a wild dose of reality mixed with fantasy in a grand adventure where dreams are most common and divine secrets are unveiled. When she's not working on the next novel in her White Bird Series, she's out in the garden, on another adventure, discovering new authors or lost in a good book. She lives in Minnesota with her mother, two very small dogs forever under her feet, and three cats who insist on being in her books.

This novel is based on a true story. I did not read it but from the excerpt below it sounds like I should have.
AWARD-WINNING and BESTSELLING AUTHOR
Parts of this memoir appeared on ESPN and in Rosie.
Fractured Not Broken is a true story of loss, faith, and a rare love that only happens in nonfiction.
In a sweeping and heart-wrenching narrative, Kelly exposes the truth about what happened after a drunk driver rendered her a quadriplegic. She shares how she found her way back—through faith and pain, her community, her family, and the love of a man she’d prayed for.
|Fractured Accident Scene|
The first day of school, I sat in the doorway observing the classroom, my room, the one my Young Life teens helped me decorate. We spent all summer traveling to and from Walmart searching for camping theme supplies. The room smelled of glue and crayons. A paper beetle fluttered on the window blind.
Everything was in place—bees, bugs, beetles, and trees. The words kindness, goodness, patience, peace, and joy, spelled out with twigs and glued on green construction paper, were taped to the blinds. Bibles were lined on a bookshelf. My desk sat to the side with my raised computer keyboard in the center. Outside the window was a view of the church entrance and a large oak tree.
Eighteen student desks were in a circle, arranged so I could weave in and out with easy access to each student.
At the top of the chalkboard was this Scripture, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13 NLT).” And on the classroom door was the quote, “Be the reflection of Christ,” surrounded by small, scattered mirrors.
Across the room, a bulletin board designed to showcase student work had this quote at the top, “To the world you are one person, but to one person—Jesus Christ—you are the world.”
Blayr, who’d volunteered to help me in the classroom, entered with her hand on her hips, observing. “It looks amazing.”
“Thanks. The teens really helped,” I said. They’d been my hands during the whole project.
“They said they had fun. You really have a creative eye.”
“I want my students to have a great year.”
Blayr placed her hand on my shoulder. “They will. They’re lucky to have you.”
The students arrived with backpacks stuffed with pencils, markers, gym shoes, and other supplies. In five minutes, the room went from silence to mayhem.
“Set your backpacks and supplies against the wall,” I instructed. “We’re going to do an activity before we get started.”
After they put their backpacks down, they turned to me, and I invited them to sit on the floor in front of me. “The janitor informed me that we’re running out of toilet paper and we only have this roll for the day.” I nodded to a roll of toilet paper in my lap. “Take as many sheets as you think you’ll need today.”
Their eyes widened. Hesitatingly, one-by-one they lined up and tore off sheets of paper.
“Count your squares,” I said.
They counted their sheets, their brows wrinkled with puzzlement.
“If you have three sheets you need to tell the class three things about yourself. If you have five, you’ll need to tell us five things.”
Their jaws dropped. A girl giggled.
“You mean, we won’t really use this… for… the bathroom?” a boy asked.
“No,” I said. “I made that up to get your attention.”
They laughed and I did too.
After they shared information about themselves, I talked about the golden rule. “If everybody follows the golden rule then all the other rules will be obsolete.”
I spoke about my disability and what I could and could not do. I demonstrated what the chair controls did, let them gape at the scar on my neck, and told them the plates beneath the scar were what kept my head up. I gave them permission to ask me anything they wanted to ask me.
One advantage to being in the chair was that fifth graders were forced to address me at eye level. Stretching the truth was a lot more difficult for them to do when I stared openly at them, mere inches from their face.
“There will be times when I need someone to write on the board and pass out papers. Could you help me with those tasks?”
Students raised their hands and shook them high in the air.
“I will, I will.”
They competed to be my helper, to retrieve a dropped item, to pass out papers, to push the elevator button, to bring me a hot lunch from the cafeteria. Kids wanted to help; they fought for the opportunity. They all wanted a turn to go to the board.
Throughout the year, Principal Schneiders conducted my performance reviews, but I never knew when he’d show up in my classroom. One day he came during science class. The lesson was about the anatomy of a cell. Students gathered around me on the floor in a circle with their books open.
One student passed out oatmeal cream cookies to everyone. Another student passed out a red Hot Tamale candy, a green jellybean, a caramel, and sprinkles.
“Don’t eat anything,” I said.
Once they each had their ingredients, I began the lesson.
Mr. Schneiders sat in the corner observing.
“Your cookie represents a cell membrane,” I began. “When the cell divides it breaks apart in two separate pieces. Go ahead and split yours in half.”
The students broke their cookies. “The mitochondria are the powerhouses of the cell. They convert nutrients to energy. Let’s make those the red Hot Tamale. Go ahead and add that to your cookie.” I paused. “The green jelly bean will be the vacuoles. They hold the food, water, and the waste. The caramel is the nucleus, which provides the “brains” for the whole operation. And finally, the icing is the cytoplasm, the fluid that fills the cell.”
They followed along in their books and studied the diagrams. While the students added the ingredients to their cookies, I explained what each one did and how it was instrumental in the production of cells.
“And now for the best part,” I said. “You may return to your seats and eat your cell and discuss which part tastes the best.”
The students laughed, picked up their books and the cell ingredients, and returned to their seats. One student gave her cookie to Mr. Schnieders.
Kelly is a true heroine, finding God as she battles with a life as a quadriplegic. Overcoming obstacles every day, she's a speaker, teacher, and Skittles lover. Michelle, Kelly's aunt, is an award-winning and bestselling author who penned Kelly's memoir to bring others hope. She writes stories that move her, and this one is close to her heart.
She grew up in the burbs of Detroit with five brothers. No sisters. Each time her mom brought the boy bundle home from the hospital Michelle cried, certain her mom liked boys better than girls. But when her brothers pitched in with the cooking, cleaning, and babysitting—without drama, Michelle discovered having brothers wasn’t so bad. They even taught her how to take direct criticism without flinching, which comes in handy with book reviews.
Michelle is living her dream—writing every day and thanking God for the stories He puts in her path. When Michelle isn’t writing she’s winning ugly on the tennis court. She’s known as “Queen of the Rim Shots.” No joke. It’s ugly.

It has been a couple of crazy busy weeks here--what with driving my Mom all over the place and putting up all the giveaways--YIKES--15 as of today!! A bunch of them will be ending very soon-then of course book reviews. I've been struggling trying to keep up with them-Picture me reading while my Mom is in Physical Therapy (those chairs are uncomfortable!)Here is my listing of everything Perl best practices damian conway . Then of course I had my bookkeeping clients payroll quarterlies to contend with as well as all their questions. As a result I put nothing new up today except now this!
I actually just got back from a couple of errands that I should have done yesterday--the bank and depositing a check being the most important-gotta get those bills paid! But while I was out I stopped by Carvel and had a child's size chocolate soft serve--which is still my absolute favorite ice cream!! Boy, did that feel good--it is hot out there. I could not find a picture of the chocolate soft serve in a cup-so a vanilla soft serve in a cone will have to do!
AND I stopped into a Health Food Store and finally found what I have been promoting for a while now Autocad 3d drawings . I saw a single bottle of the Cherry Ginger Brew and it is really good! A bit high in carbs and I shouldn't probably have any more of it (I am diabetic)-but I am loving it.
I better get back to reading--I wonder if I will ever get caught up?
I am dead. This is my funeral. Elijah turned to look at Castiel who looked back at him and nodded gently. And in that instant everything changed, in ways that Elijah Hael and those who read his story could never anticipate or imagine.
